Old Car Sunday in the Park - Mission, BC Canada

MEDIA RELEASE - Please read the update at the bottom of the page.

October 17, 2016

After twenty-five successful years of running our specialty and vintage car show, the current organizing committee of Old Car Sunday in the Park has decided that the 2016 show would be the last show coordinated by this Executive.

While this decision was not an easy one to make, due to the lack of committed, dedicated volunteers to maintain the core organizing committee (some of whom have been involved since the beginning) and the fact that the membership of the organizing car clubs that put on Old Car Sunday in the Park is declining, the committee decided that now is the right time to step aside.

The current organizing committee would like to thank the dedicated volunteers of the Mission Heritage Association and the District of Mission Parks, Recreation and Culture Department for the great working relationship we had during the 25 years of our show and especially the Mission Elks Lodge #30 who have also supported us over the years. We would also like to sincerely Thank the wonderful volunteers of the supporting car clubs who came out year after year on Father's Day putting in many hours to do what needed to be done to ensure the success of the show. A huge Thank You to the general public, and our sponsors, who came and supported our shows year after year. Your generous donations over the years not only helped us to cover the cost of the shows and donate a portion of our proceeds back to the charities we supported but also helped with the many improvement projects at our host venue, Fraser River Heritage Park. Our charity of choice the last few years was Variety - The Children's Charity and the name "Old Car Sunday in the Park - Mission", is now proudly displayed on Sunshine Coach #591.

We are proud to have put on a successful family event in Mission for 25 years. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Old Car Sunday in the Park Organizing Committee

Footnote: The District of Mission Parks, Recreation and Culture Department has expressed an interest in taking over the organizing of the car show for next year.
